Venice Marsh Redfish
Venice, LA, United States · Saltwater · Beginner
Where the Mississippi meets the Gulf. The Venice marsh holds enormous bull redfish in the shallow ponds and cuts, while the offshore rigs a short run out produce yellowfin tuna year-round.
Getting there & access
- Fish from: land-based or boat
Anglers aged 18 and over need a Louisiana saltwater licence to fish recreationally south of the state's saltwater line, which covers the delta. Offshore species — tunas, billfish, swordfish, amberjacks, snappers, groupers, cobia, wahoo, dolphinfish and gray triggerfish among them — additionally require a Recreational Offshore Landing Permit, though anglers on a paid for-hire charter are covered by the operator. Buy licences through the LDWF before travelling.
